Increase your sensitivity to energy. Learn how to apply Chinese Medicine theory for healing yourself and others. Specifically these methods include scanning, pulling, combing, sending energy, and use of meridians and meridian points. The format of the course will primarily be hands-on with 5 phase theory as a supporting framework. The prerequisite for this course is the Qi Gong and Chinese Medicine Class.
Learn to find your true center, physically and mentally. Learn to feel each moment, one at a time. This program is an excellent place for those wishing to experience Tai Chi for the first time or to further develop their ongoing practice. We will be covering the Standard Form (24) Tai Chi as well as the Eight Pieces of Brocade Qi Gong. Saturday class taught by Lori Scime.
We will learn a variety of stretches to help specific pain problems throughout the whole body. Some stretches will be done on the floor, others seated in chairs, and some will be done standing up. You will learn the specific muscle groups and health benefits of each of the stretches taught. This class is accessible to people of all ages and abilities. No experience needed.
This is an advanced Tai Chi course. It is for those students who have previous Tai Chi experience and runs as a series of modules. We will cover the Yang Long Form Tai Chi as well as the Microcosmic Orbit and Grand Circulation meditations which we will incorporate into the Tai Chi form. In-depth work on breathing and coiling is a center point of this course. The modules will run in consecutive order, progressing through the entire Long Form over a two year period. During each module, we will be reviewing only what is covered in that particular module and not in previous modules. New students can join the Long Form class at the beginning of any module.
Qi Gong: 12 noon - 2:00 pm (taught by Lisa B. O’Shea)
The group will play through the entire Tai Chi Short Form (24) and the focus will be on enjoying the group energy and using Tai Chi as a portal to presence and centering. Rich Linder will be the organizer. During the Tai Chi Play, the form is repeated multiple times silently. This is not an instructional class. Anyone who has taken Tai Chi at our school is welcome to attend. During the summer, this class may travel to nearby parks for outdoor practice. The Healers Exchange is for students who have already taken the Healers classes at the Qi Gong Institute of Rochester and is organized by Chris Burleigh. During the exchange, students give and receive healing sessions with each other, exchange ideas, and support each other’s learning and progress.
